Possible Roles of Tumor-associated Carbohydrate Antigens1

چکیده
Recent progress in the studies on the roles of carbohydrates has brought about critical discoveries, which allow us to have working hy potheses for understanding the roles of tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens. In this report, I focus my description on three different aspects of this progress. I discuss: (« ) the immunologie ¡il response to oligosaccharides aberrantly expressed under pathological conditions; (In possible roles of carbohydrate-dependent cell adhesion during tumor metastasis; and (c) the roles of carbohydrates in modulating the functions of proteins that attach those carbohydrates. These three areas in the roles of carbo hydrates will likely be the target for continuous research efforts to reveal the roles of tumor-associated carbohydrates.

Diagnosis GLY120 Antigen for the Blood and Breast Cancers Using Graphene Nanosheet
The current study designed and simulated graphene nanosensors for detection of GLY120 tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens. Graphene is a two-dimensional nanosheet that offers a high surface-to-volume ratio and high mobility which increases its sensitivity as a graphene sensor over that of other nanoparticles. The current study simulated graphene sensors with and without GLY12...
متن کاملComparative Study of Monoclonal Antibodies TURP-27 and HNK-1: Their Relationship to Neural Cell Adhesion Molecules and Prostate Tumor-associated Antigens1
The murine monoclonal antibodies TURP-27 and HNK-1 have been shown to detect antigens which are heavily expressed by benign prostatic hyperplasia and carcinoma of the prostate. Western blot analysis of prostate extracts showed that monoclonal antibodies TURP-27 and HNK-1 bound glycoproteins with molecular weights of 180,000,140,000, 120,000,100,000,90,000, and 69,000. Studies have shown that th...
متن کاملChanging Roles of Matrix Metalloproteases and Their Inhibitors, TIMPs, During Tumor Progression and Angiogenesis
Inhibition of matrix-metalloproteinases (MMPs) by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) has been shown in vivo to decrease metastasis and tumor-associated angiogenesis. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the role of these proteins at the pericellular microenvironment of tumor and endothelial cells. Secretion of MMPs by tumor cells enables the migration, invasion and metasta...
متن کاملIntramuscular myxoma associated with an increased carbohydrate antigen 19.9 level in a woman: a case report
INTRODUCTION Intramuscular myxoma is a rare benign soft tissue tumor. The lack of specific symptoms and widely used laboratory tests makes the diagnosis quite difficult. We present a case of an Intramuscular myxoma associated with an increased carbohydrate antigen 19.9 level. To the best of our knowledge, there have not been any reported cases of an association of Intramuscular myxoma with tumo...
متن کاملRoles of Renin-Angiotensin System in the Regulation of Prostate Cancer Bone Metastasis: A Critical Review
Mestastatic prostate cancer cells (MPCCs) frequently metastasize to bone, which is a “favorite soil” for colonization and proliferation of MPCCs. Prostate cancer bone mestastasis is tightly associated with tumor-induced bone lesions, most commonly caused from the etiological imbalance between osteoblastic bone formation and osteoclastic bone resorption, and from the anti-tumor immune response. ...
